One good thing about being in the UK: the sorts of things you find in secondhand record shops tends towards the interesting. Just today, I picked up Pulp's Intro (that's the Island reissue of their Gift recordings) and Primal Scream's Sonic Flower Groove (which, I think was their baggy post-C86 incarnation) at the Notting Hill Music & Video Exchange. I also saw a few albums by bands off C86 there, though they weren't the ones I liked most, so I didn't get them.

OTOH, the "Australian Indie" section of M&VE is wall-to-wall Jet and such; there's not even any Architecture In Helsinki or Lucksmiths to be seen there.

I also stepped into Rough Trade, leaving with The Sound of Leamington Spa vols. 2 and 4 and issue 3 of Smoke. (That's Matt "Sarah Records" Haynes' new zine, which is writing/art inspired by London, and rather Iain Sinclairish. [livejournal.com profile] cyflea, you'd like it, or possibly be tempted to start a Melbourne version.)
