I went to the Smallgoods gig last night. It was pretty good; they played their brand of sweet retro-styled guitar-pop, with several members of Architecture In Helsinki joining in on brass at one stage, and were supported by Mid-State Orange (who were OK, though their songs tend to all blend together into one psychedelic swirl, and could do with a bit more variety) and another band whose name escapes me, but who were good in a pop kind of way. The nutter running up and down in front of the stage and executing elaborate pirouettes to the music was also somewhat amusing.

Afterwards, I went along with some friends to Shake Some Action, in a discotheque in Prahrahran. I was rather disappointed with it; I was expecting them to be playing indie music and such, but the music was a naff mix of booty R&B and cheesy 80s top-40. The only good songs they played were really obvious ones, like Bizarre Love Triangle or The Cure's Boys Don't Cry. I don't think I'll go there again.
