Crushworthy
Aug. 25th, 2003 05:53 pmThe latest care package from Traffic Sounds arrived today, containing (among other things) Hydroplane's Hope Against Hope and The Cat's Miaow's The Long Goodbye. I haven't had a chance to listen to these CDs yet, though I must say that the cover artwork, by some outfit named Crushworthy, is gorgeous (if perhaps a tad derivative). The Cat's Miaow cover looks like an old Blue Note jazz record, whereas the Hydroplane one takes off Vaughn Oliver's 4AD album cover style very nicely, right down to the crisp, retro-modernistic fonts and photographs as a textural element. If the music is as good as the artwork, I'll be very pleased indeed.
