My DJ set
I DJed between sets at the Light Music Club gig tonight, at the Builders Arms.
(before the first band; mostly old favourites. I was saving the newer stuff for when people showed up.)
- Electrelane - Love Builds Up
- Yo La Tengo - You Can Have It All
- Slowdive - In Mind (Reload remix)
- Parsley Sound - Platonic Rate
- Black Box Recorder - England Made Me
- Minimum Chips - Furniture
- Ninetynine - San Pedro de Atacama
- Prop vs. Stereolab - Statice
- The Random Numbers - Mornington Crescent
(between the first band and Light Music Club:)
- Blueboy - Marble Arch
- Belle & Sebastian - I Fought In A War
- The Radio Dept. - Bus
- Slowdive - Celia's Dream
(after Light Music Club's set; before Duckdive; I seem to have gone into a bit of an English indie-pop vein, for the most part, anyway:)
- The Field Mice - Willow
- Black Box Recorder - Swinging
- The Radio Dept. - Slottet #2
- The Clientele - Reflections After Jane
- Harvey Williams - Eurostar
- Blueboy - Boys Don't Matter
- Spearmint - A Different Lifetime (a nice long one, during which I took the opportunity to talk to people)
- Morrissey - The First Of The Gang To Die
(from after the Duckdive set to until everybody left:)
- Clag - Goldfish
- Minimum Chips - Bouncing Boy With A Bubble
- Keckle - Elephant Song
- Lush - Lovelife
- The Hummingbirds - Blush
- The Field Mice - White
- The Guild League - Panic (their Smiths cover)
- Belle & Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap
- The Smiths - I Want The One I Can't Have
- Pulp - Babies
- The Bodines (that's the British C86 band, not the Australian one) - Heard It All
- New Order - Leave Me Alone
The first band (whose name escapes me; they may have been called Caravan Park or something similar) were interesting in places, although perhaps a bit on the fatbeard side of things. Light Music Club were excellent as usual. And Duckdive made pleasant enough jangly guitar pop with trumpets and accordions and instrument swapping.
Aside: the Builders Arms has the most stereotypically gay DJ booth I've ever been in; the walls are festooned with plastic penises and a 7" copy of Kylie Minogue's I Should Be So Lucky. Fabulous!
